Islamic Persian Poem #6:

by Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad

In the Love of the Holy Quran

Edited and Translated by Sheikh Muhammad Tufail

Alas! The beauty of the face of the Quran is not evident any more.
It is there all the time but those who have the faculty of perception are not there.

I see everyone sunk in his own personal sorrows,
But no one is sorrowing for the propagation (of the message) of the Quran.

The grief for this pure Book has burnt into my soul,
And there is not much hope that I shall survive.

My Lord! Is it only destined for me that I suffer for the sake of the Quran,
Or is there no one else in this age who can partake of this painful secret?

O you the careless and the uninformed, get yourself ready for the service of the Quran,
‘Before the voice is heard that that person is alive no more’.
