Hazrat Ameer Prof. Dr. Abdul Karim Saeed Pasha Sahib's Eid-ul-Azha (1425 AH) Message for the Jamaat (Movement) (21st January 2005) [in English]:

The parable of those who spend their wealth in the way of Allah is as the parable of a grain growing seven ears, in every ear a hundred grains. And Allah multiplies (further) for whom He pleases. And Allah is Ample-giving, Knowing. (The Holy Quran: Al Baqarah 2:161)
And the parable of those who spend their wealth to seek Allah’s pleasure and for the strengthening of their souls is as the parable of a garden on elevated ground, upon which heavy rain falls, so it brings forth its fruit two-fold; but if heavy rain falls not on it, light rain (suffices). And Allah is Seer of what you do. (The Holy Quran: Al Baqarah 2:265)

Dear Members of the Jama‘at,

Assalaam-o-Alaikum Wa Rakhmatullahi Wa Barakaato Hoo.

The Indian Ocean Tsunami has created a humanitarian crisis of catastrophic proportions. More than 200,000 have died, with the toll still rising. Millions in South East Asia and East Africa have been left homeless. The dead have to be buried, the injured treated and the hungry fed right now. More has to be done in the weeks and months ahead to rebuild their shattered lives, to take care of their orphans and to provide shelter for the homeless. Our thoughts and prayers are with those who have died and with those suffering as well as their loved ones. This disaster has affected all, irrespective of their casts, colour or creed; it has not discriminated between gender and religion; it has spared neither the child nor the old. It has cast awe into the hearts of not only those who have been directly affected but all those who have witnessed this devastation. The miraculous stories of those who survived also bring to mind the Mercy of Allah. In this calamity we have seen that the Power of Allah is beyond our comprehension and His Mercy is also infinite.

The celebrations of Eid ul Adha this year will be marred by the sorrow of the Tsunami calamity. This festival commemorates the great sacrifice rendered by Hazrat Ibraheem and Hazrat Isma’eel (may peace be upon them), so let it be a time of spiritual reflection on the spirit of this sacrifice and let us grab this opportunity to show our generosity and love for mankind. The victims of the tsunami disaster need our generous support. The Holy Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, has said:

"Feed the hungry, look after the sick and strive for the freedom of the enslaved." (Bukhari, Kitaab ul At‘imah, 70:1)

This will also be a means to fulfil the ninth condition of our pledge (Ba ‘at) which states:

"I will be compassionate to all mankind for Allah’s sake only, and as far as possible, I will utilise my God-given energies to benefit them with Allah’s favours."

I have established a Tsunami Relief Fund and appeal to all members of the International Lahore Ahmadiyya Community to participate generously in the worldwide relief efforts. Jazaakallah. The Central Anjuman will collectively remit the total collection to Indonesia who have suffered the greatest loss.

May Allah Ta‘ala bless our humble efforts in His way as stated in the verses of the Holy Quran quoted above. Aameen.
