Our Motto : 'In-Allah-ha-Ma'anaa' ("Be not grieved, for surely Allah is with us." - The Holy Quran 9:40). We find spiritual strength, courage and comfort, in the times of trials and hardships, from this Divine Quranic revelation that descended upon the pure heart of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him), so as to console and compose him during one of the most perilous moments of his life. <Please click the 'Our Motto' link on our homepage for more details>

Dear Webmaster,
Assalam-o-Alaikum,

In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful.

I am a Caucasian (white) and Cherokee (American Indian) American male. I was raised up Mormon by my mother. My father was an agnostic. I disagreed with Mormon theology early in life and left the Mormon church when I was a teenager. I became a nondenominational Christian for a long period.

I began to have concerns about the irrationality of the doctrines of atonement and the Trinity. They just did not make sense to me. I always thought of Jesus as a prophet, not a "god". I started to look for other paths which were closer to what I believed.

Being ignorant of Islam (and having believed much of the Western propaganda), I joined the Bahai Faith. I was an active Bahai for about three years when I began to really study their teachings. There were inconsistencies and many of their practices were watered-down Islam. They proclaimed to recognise Muhammad (pbuh) as a prophet of God but could not explain why their prophets had to come after. I checked out the Holy Quran (in English translation) from the local library and began to read.

What I found was astonishing and nothing like the Western propaganda. First, I found that Muhammad (pbuh) was the Seal of the Prophets and there was to be no new prophet after him. I also found that the social teachings of Bahai which I had admired and thought so original were actually already present in the teachings of Islam. The Holy Quran is a wonderfully poetic and moving book (even in English translation) and I recommend that every person at least read it.

Certainly, in this day and age, with all of the misunderstandings due to the September 11th incident, it would be prudent for each of us to become aware of the actual teachings of Islam which do not support terrorism or oppression. As Americans we must not judge a whole religion by the actions of a few self-proclaimed believers. Would Christianity want to be judged by David Koresh or Jim Jones?

And certainly the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) was no supporter of terrorism.

By reading a little about the history of Islam, I was able to learn about the numerous contributions that the Muslim world has made to the West. Did you know the Renaissance occurred because the Muslim universities had preserved Greek and Roman philosophical throughout the Christian Dark Ages? How many know about the advances made by Muslim thinkers in medicine, mathematics, etc...?

I bear witness that there is no God (Allah) but God (Allah), and that Muhammad is the messenger of God (Allah). May peace be with you!
